Cambridgeshire (often abbreviated to Cambs.) is a a beautiful county in the East Anglia region of England. The county shares it's borders with the counties of Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Rutland and Suffolk. Cambridgeshire is a UK vacation destination highly suitable for leisurely vacations, tours of historic houses, abbeys and museums as well as nature reserves and places with breathtaking scenery. An excellent destination for cycling vacations due to the large areas of flat low-lying terrain.
The county town of Cambridge is one of the "must see" vacation destinations of the United Kingdom. Due to the prescence of the prestigious University of Cambridge a huge number of famous people have strong associations with the county as well as a huge number of celebrities who are natives. Favourite folk associated with Cambridgeshire include David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Roger Keith Barrett (Syd Barrett) of Pink Floyd as well as the highly acclaimed, British theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking OBE, author of the best seller "A Brief History of Time" who poders such weighty theories such as the "black hole information paradox".
