With a huge number of immensely important religious and historical buildings, vast areas of unspoilt countryside and an outstanding coastline featuring a number of spectacular beaches North Yorkshire is one of the finest UK vacation destinations for a variety vacations. Take a look at our list of places to visit in North Yorkshire below for vacation ideas.

Much of North Yorkshire is open countryside and moorland but festooned across this barren land is a multitude of gorgeous little villages oozing with character. If you have your own vehicle (or hire car) then several days can easily be spent exploring the area at your leisure. The Yorkshire Dales are especially beautiful featuring limestone hills and lush valleys (the word dales comes from the Viking word for valley - dalr). Skipton is an excellent town in which to spend a day or two, especially on market days when the places picks up a pace. Found at the south of the Dales Skipton features a castle and several other sites of interest including the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Craven Museum, both close to the High Street.
