England: Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire, often shortened to Northants, is a pretty county in the East Midlands region of England bordered by the counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland and Warwickshire. The county is not often associated with vacation destinations but fascinating vacations can be had exploring the beautiful limestone villages which feature important churches, including two of ENgland's finest surviving Saxon churches.
There are no cities in Northamptonshire, the closest is the county town of Northampton which makes for an excellent vacation destination with many of the region's visitor attractions within the town or not too far away. While the large towns of Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough have a very industrial nature, Northampton maintains a happy blend of the old and the new. The main industry of the town was shoe making and the local museum covers this topic extremely well and is well worth visiting to see some of the more unusual items such as the extra large Doc Marten boots worn by Elton John in the Who's movie "Tommy".
