England: Oxfordshire

Oxford

Town, Postcode, Attraction

Oxfordshire is a county in the south east midlands region of England which shares its borders with the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire. The county is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United Kingdom. This popularity stems mainly from the amazing appeal of the city of Oxford, set on the River Thames featuring masses of fantastic ancient buildings and, of course, Britain's oldest university. Few will deny the draw of Oxford with numerous colleges and other fascinating buildings such as the Bridge of Sighs. However to focus upon this one small part of the county would be folly as there are plenty of visitor attractions, and glorious countryside, to visit outside this wonderful city. Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, stands out as one of the finest places to visit and although the property is privately owned it is possible to visit the fantastic gardens which were designed by the famous Capability Brown who set out the trees in the formation of the army at the battle of Blenheim (from which the palace gained it's name).
