England: Warwickshire

Warwickshire, commonly abbreviated to Warks or Warwicks, is a beautiful county in the West Midlands of England. The county is landlocked by the counties of Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. As a UK vacation destination this area of Britain is most renowned for the picturesque market town of Stratford-upon-Avon, famous for being the birthplace of the world famous poet and playwright William Shakespeare (the house reputed to be his birthplace is shown to the left).
Though the majority of tourists flock to see Stratford-upon-Avon, the county of Warwickshire has far greater appeal than you may imagine. The historic Royal Leamington Spa was, during the 19th century, a major tourist destination and while nowadays few visit the spa town to take the waters it remains popular if only for its annual Peace Festival held in the Pump Room Gardens.
Warwickshire also features a number of excellent canals and waterways including; the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal, the Coventry Canal, the Grand Union Canal, which runs through Leamington to Birmingham, the Oxford Canal and the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal.
