West Sussex is a rural county in the south of England with over half of its land being protected countryside. The county shares its borders with the counties of East Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. Due to the abundance of open countryside, including the stunning South Downs National Park, the county serves as an excellent destination for walking, horseriding and cycling vacations and the region is considered have the best terrain in Britain for this type of vacation.
Other reasons for taking a vacation in West Sussex include the fact that there is a superb selection of places to visit rich in heritage and culture. West Sussex does not really have any large cities and only has two settlements of any size, Crawley and Worthing. The population of the county is just over three quarters of a million and you will find the region has a fair number of small towns and villages that are well worth a visit.
