England: West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a county in the North of England which shares its borders with the counties of Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. As a UK vacation destination the county is most well known for the city of Leeds (which has won many tourism related awards) but not all of West Yorkshire's visitor attractions are related to city life and there are a few rural attractions well worth investigation.
Overflowing with family friendly tourist attractions, such as the splendid National Media Museum, West Yorkshire is suitable for an extremely diverse range of vacations. Dominated by the city of Leeds (for shopping as well at tourism) the county is both popular with domestic visitors (folk from around Great Britain) as well as with travellers from abroad.
For those folk taking a family vacation Leeds provides a wealth of family friendly visitor attractions including the fantastic Tropical World, situated in the wonderful Roundhay Park this attraction allows you to meet such fascinating creatures as the enigmatic meerkat. Kids will love this place and it is often possible to see baby creatures - which are always a winner with all of the family (including dad, even if he doesn't want to admit it). [You will find the Meerkats at the Desert House for more info visit http://www.roundhaypark.org.uk/tropical-world-leeds/index.html]. If you love animals then another great family day out can be had at Home Farm Rare Breeds Centre.
