Town, Postcode, Attraction

Clarence Dock, LeedsLeeds is a vibrant city (and metropolitan borough) in West Yorkshire, England. Over the last few decades the city has benefited from enormous inward investment and today the city is radically different to the grim and grimy city centre of the mid to late 20 th century. Where once stood a black building there now stands a golden following the removal of decades of black muck, soot and other industrial pollution. Today Leeds city centre is a modern, clean and healthy place in which you can enjoy the very latest in entertainment, superb bars, pubs and clubs, as well as more cultural pastimes as visiting the art galleries and museums. All in all Leeds is becoming and extremely popular vacation destination for short weekend breaks and even longer.

Where many of the city's attractions are associated with its industrial past, Leeds is very much a forward looking city and this is most evident in the area of education. The University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds Trinity University College all have a most wonderful reputation. With such esteemed educational establishments people from all over the world choose to study here and this adds a further element of cultural diversity to an already broadly multicultural city. If you like a lively nightlife the large student population ensures that, during term time at least, the city centre is busy throughout the week. This diversity of culture and age has helped create a rich environment where one can enjoy a short break whatever their tastes or preferences may be. The choice of fine restaurants is as diverse as the population and many would say that the finest curry houses in England are never too far away here.

Throughout the year Leeds is home to a number of festivals and other cultural activities. Both classical and popular tastes are catered for in several music festivals and Leeds Carnival is the UK's second largest, and Western Europe's oldest, West Indian Carnival. Over three days the Chapeltown and Harehills areas of the city witness an influx of over 100,000 visitors who are here to enjoy the sights and sounds of this incredible event. Other festivals include the Leeds Festival, Leeds Asian Festival, Otley Folk Festival and many more.
