England: London

Town, Postcode, Attraction

Tower Bridge, LondonLondon is HUGE, this is the very first thing you need to know about the capital city of England. Thankfully the vast majority of places to visit in London are within a reasonable distance from a London Undergound station. The London Undergound rail system can be rather confusing but a London Underground map is a vital tool for any visitor to the city wishing to move around the metropolis. London is Europe's largest city with a population in excess of eight million and stretching over thirty miles on both sides of the River Thames. With such a huge population is should not come as any great surprise that the city is also Europe's most ethnically diverse. With such ethnic diversity comes many benefits for the tourist not least a massive range of fine places to eat. Although many claim that London is an expensive city the obvious truth is that it is as expensive as you make it! So many places to visit and things to do in London are free and you will surprise yourself as to how many enjoyable hours can be had for little or no expense. One of the most popular spots with both locals and tourists is Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Admitedly, if you want to visit nearby Kensington Palace you will have to pay to enter this Jacobean mansion but if you are interested in Princess Diana the price will not appear as extortionate (Diana lived here until her death in 1997).
