Washington Old Hall

Washington is a small village in the county of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Although pretty the appeal of this small village is mainly due to the fact that it was the home of the ancestors of George Washington. Americans will be pleased to know that Washington Old Hall is open to the public and can be visited from March to October (see below for more details). Visitors from the USA should also take a look at other visitor attractions relating to the Washington family in the county of Northumberland.

Of course the appeal of Washington extends to visitors from around the globe and the village makes for an excellent vacation destination. Those who prefer a more leisurely break will find that staying in Washington allows the visitor the peace and tranquility usually associated with a rural location while remaining within reasonable distance of other visitor attractions and cities such as Newcastle upon Tynes and Sunderland. Of course, if you would prefer a more lively experience you may wish to stay in Newcastle and take a day trip to Washington.
