Aberdeen Beach Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland. The local economy is boosted by the massive influence of the oil industry of the North Sea which brings much needed jobs to the area. Aberdeen is something of a strange city when it comes to tourism as many people love it whereas others prefer the more usual Scottish vacation destinations.

Know as the "Granite City" due to the common use of local granite as a building material, Aberdeen has a number of interesting architectural qualities but again you either love it or hate it, some admire the rather uniform hues and shades while others consider it boring, it all boils down to a matter of taste. The main architectural points of interest lie in the 19th century buildings which are predominantly of a classical, Gothic Revival style. While many complain that the city appears grey the truth is that throughout the summer months the superb floral displays bring a flood of much needed colour to the city. In fact Aberdeen won the "Britain In Bloom" competition so many times that it was once barred to give other cities a chance of winning.

Aberdeen has much to keep the tourist entertained and you will find a selection of family friendly attractions across the city. For most families the highlight of the city is the area around the beach but the city has much more to offer the visitor such as a selection of museums and galleries, parks and gardens and a superb nightlife. Aberdeen is also a wonderful place in which to base yourself for a touring vacation as there are a multitude of places to visit within a short distance of the city. Whisky lovers are well catered for with famous brands such as Glenlivet and Glenfiddich being produced in the region. For golfers the best is, apparently, yet to come with an awesome golfing paradise planned for Aberdeen to be created by Donald Trump. Local news seems to have been dominated by the story for some time now with various objections being raised which seem to throw a spanner in the works every once in a while and Donald Trump's team threatening to pull out of the deal in response. Somehow the plans seem to remain and it is hoped that some common ground can be met so that Aberdeen and the region will eventually be home to one of the UK's finest golf resorts.

Getting To Aberdeen

Aberdeen airport connects to a number of important UK airports as well as locations in europe and across the world. You should be aware that it only connects to three of the London airports, Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton> Arriving by bus or coach you will, most likely, arrive at the main station just by the train station of Guild Street. Arriving by car can be problematic due to congestions, particularly during the rush hour.
