Because of past events the last few years have been difficult for the air travel industry with the increased numbers of people fearing flight. Many just don't trust their lives to large, flying chunks of metal but many more people are coming back to embrace flying as the ultimate way to get from point A to point B. It's fast, convenient, and relatively inexpensive. This is especially so when you take the time to consider how much you would spend on food, gas and lodging had you chosen to drive there instead. There is no denying that it's the best way to travel, and a great many frequent flyers agree. Air travel has continually, year after year, become safer, what with regular advances in technology and superb security protocols, it has become far more convenient than ever before to get where you want to go.

Imagine that you have been invited to a party over on the other side of the country and you are able to go as you happen to be off work at the time. It would work out perfectly according to your schedule and you can afford your plane ticket, so how do you make air travel possible?

1. You'll need is a ticket.
In order to get a ticket, or boarding pass, for air travel, you'll need a passport (Government Issue photo identification card). The strict security guidelines mean that without your passport you won't be allowed on the plane! This may seem extreme for domestic flights but this is only one measure amongst many other strict security procedures that have been designed to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew during their air travel.

2. Once you have your identification card in order, how do you get a ticket?
Here you have several options. You could telephone the airline directly and inform them where you'd like to go and when and an operator of the company should help you. Alternatively, you can do like most of us do every day and that's to use the internet in order to purchase their tickets for air travel - it only takes a matter of minutes. Booking online air travel is so popular these days that many people swear by it above other options available.

3. Booking Online.
To use an air travel booking site you will need to search on your favorite search engine or you could choose one of the many that are advertised on television. After you register with them you can log in and then you merely search according to certain specifications, such as the departure and arrival dates, which city you will be flying to and from. Many sites now offer other services such as the booking of a hotel room or rental car. There are many options when it comes to booking via air travel sites but they are really simple and easy to use.

The best thing is that you can have your air travel ticket or tickets in minutes, you simply pay with your credit or debit card. You will need to confirm your identification at the gate when you get to the airport on the big day of your vacation. That's it done and dusted and that's all you need for air travel. Taking a flight is so convenient that you just relax in the seat until you land, the only thing you will need to concern yourself about is what, or who, to take with you.
