Vancouver, British Columbia: The Best Bed and Breakfasts
By Charlotte Pennington

Vancouver is a beautiful city replete with more cultural events, entertainment, museums, stores and galleries than anyone could visit in a lifetime. Rather than stay in a large, impersonal hotel, why not spend your time in Vancouver, British Columbia, in one of the city's many bad and breakfast inns?

A few popular choices include:

Penny Farthing Inn - 1-866-739-9002

The Penny Farthing Inn is a large house painted a vibrant blue, located in the Kitsilano district. Breakfast consists of a main dish (e.g., peach French toast, crepes filled with smoked salmon) with exotic fruits, freshly baked breads, and homemade jams and jellies. The house is decorated in bold colors and highlights include three smoking porches, a 120-video library, wood floors, and original stained glass.

This British Columbia bed and breakfast is located within walking distance of the waterfront and several charming shops and restaurants. The beautiful downtown area is a mere five minute drive away. Penny Farthing Inn does not accept outside pets, but two lovely cats and a teacup Chihuahua are available for visitors who enjoy animal energy.

Camelot Inn - 1-604-739-6941

The name calls to mind an era of bygone chivalry and elegance, and this British Columbia bed and breakfast does not disappoint. Built in 1912, but newly renovated, this large home offers both bed and breakfast fare as well as suites complete with kitchenettes for travelers who prefer to make their own breakfasts. Guestrooms feature original hardwood floors, elaborately carved furniture, Persian rugs, and private bathrooms. Camelot Inn is located only a short walk away from beaches, shopping, museums, and fine dining.

The Corkscrew Inn B & B 1-877-737-7276

If you're a wine connoisseur, you can't afford not to stay in this lovely British Columbia bed and breakfast which doubles as a wine museum. Guest rooms are equipped with corkscrews (naturally), private bathrooms, telephones and televisions. Every guest room except one features a private balcony.

The museum features a variety of corkscrews, many dating back to the nineteenth century; stained glass doors, windows, and skylight; and dozens of wine-related antiques including bottles, glasses, and items used in wine production.

If wine is not enough to hold your attention throughout your stay, experience beaches, shopping, walking trails, and live entertainment, all within walking distance of this very unique British Columbia bed and breakfast.

"O Canada" House B&B 1-604-688-0555

The "O Canada" House is located in the West End of Vancouver. It was built in 1897. This home is famous because it is the site where Ewing Buchanan wrote one of the best known versions of the Canadian National anthem. Guest rooms (suites as they are called by the management) blend late Victorian charm with modern day conveniences such as televisions, refrigerators, and telephones. The outside of the home features elaborately planned gardens.

The "O Canada" House offers easy access to the Whistler Ski Resort. Visitors are also encouraged to visit the capital city, Victoria, which features finely detailed historical buildings and some of the most beautiful gardens you'll ever see.

Vancouver is a fun city to visit and explore. Why not add to the uniqueness of your experience by staying in one of the many fine British Columbia bed and breakfast inns located throughout the city?
