Picking The Right Blue Tooth Earpiece
By Andrew Kelly

With the popularity of cellular phones these days, the sight of someone talking on one in public is sight that's become more common, and some of the public talkers you see will not be holding a phone to their ears, but will have a small device hooked over one of their ears. What they're wearing is not a fancy hearing aid, but a wireless blue tooth earpiece for use with their cell phone, and while they may be taking the use of such an item to an extreme, a blue tooth earpiece is a useful accessory for anyone who needs to use a cell phone. Purchasing such an item may be daunting at first, but following a few simple guidelines will help ensure that you're not throwing your money away.

Make Sure It's Compatible

As great as blue tooth technology is, your new blue tooth earpiece is useless if your cellular phone isn't capable of using blue tooth. But even if it's not, you will simply need to purchase a blue tooth adapter, which should plug right into the phone's microphone jack and allow you to use it with your wireless blue tooth earpiece. Also, it's a good idea to buy more recent models, as blue tooth is a relatively new technology, so if you try to shop around and purchase an older earpiece, you may have quality or compatibility issues. Take advantage of the expertise companies have with working with blue tooth and buy something recently made.

Don't Buy Something Flimsy

Don't buy your new earpiece without taking a good look at it first. The hook that keeps it over your ear should be sturdy and not made of thin plastic. If it looks like it'll break easily, then it probably will, and a blue tooth earpiece that no longer fits over your ear is useless. Also keep in mind after purchase that even the sturdier models are still small and easily broken, so take care of your blue tooth earpiece. Don't leave it where it'll be dropped, sat on, stepped on, or otherwise broken. Since the best use for a blue tooth earpiece is in the car, so your hands stay on the wheel, your best bet is to leave it in there when it's not charging.

Don't Pay Too Much

While it some may adopt the attitude that the more money you throw at a purchase, the more likely you'll end up with a quality item, don't fall into this trap when buying a blue tooth earpiece. Prices range from under $20 to over $100, but keep in mind that the rechargeable battery in a blue tooth earpiece is not replaceable and even the most careful owner may have a mishap and break it. In either case, if you go for the most expensive model, you end up with an expensive piece of trash. If you shop for something in the middle of the road, it'll be easy to find a blue tooth earpiece that won't break the bank. Just remember that with a small amount of money and careful purchasing, you'll end up with a great new blue tooth earpiece for your own phone!
