The Merits of Cat Litter Mats
By Emily Sanchez

It might not seem like that big of a deal, but cat litter mats can really either enhance how you feel about your cat, or make you despise your cat for no reason. These are something that you should keep your eye on and something that you should always have when you are dealing with cat litter.

If you have never heard of cat litter mats you aren't alone. A lot of people who own cats don't know what cat litter mats are; it is simply the small rubber mat that goes outside of the cat litter box. The cat is able to step on this mat and is able to not track their cat litter all over the place. If you are able to use cat litter mats you will see that the mats trap the cat litter and therefore it isn't dragged all over the house and all over the floor as well.

A good way to make sure that your cat litter mats are working is to shake them out outside before you begin. Then, you put the cat litter mats in front of the cat litter box so they are the first thing that the cat steps on when they are finished using the cat litter box. You will see that you are finding less and less litter on your floor because the litter is all on the cat litter mats instead.

Beware of Fussy Felines

There are some things that you have to be careful of, however. Some cats don't like the feeling of different types of cat litter mats. Because of this, some will refuse to use their cat box if there is a mat that they don't' like near it. They also might take the mat and push it away from the cat box, which is going to make even more of a mess. If you find that your cat doesn't like cat litter mats, you should simply try using a different style. Usually, a cat that doesn't like one kind of a mat will be fine with another, it is simply a matter of finding one that works best for your cat as well as for your floor.

There are also cat litter mats that are made for different surfaces. Be sure that you are able to find a mat that works well not only for your cat but for your floor, and both of you are going to be very happy!
