A Child Suffering from Obesity Faces Grave Consequences
By Linda Rogers
Childhood obesity has grown to epidemic proportions according to the available statistics. The child suffering from obesity is grossly overweight in many circumstances. These children suffering from obesity face a very bleak future. The child suffering from obesity also suffers from a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. These two aspects are the causes of childhood obesity. These children are handicapped because they are overweight. The less they move about, the heavier they get. As they get heavier, their chances of becoming afflicted with serious diseases increase substantially.
These children suffer from poor nutrition in most cases. These children eat fast foods a substantial portion of the time. The children eat these foods that are full of fats that contribute to their obesity. The foods contain many empty calories when they stick to a diet full of fast foods. On the other hand, the children do not get important vitamins and minerals in their daily diet. They often ignore fruits and vegetables that contain the nutrition important to their health. Many of these children eat these foods at home, and then they end up eating similar foods when they go home.
A Child Suffering from Obesity Does not Get Proper Physical Activity
A child suffering from obesity probably does not get enough physical activity. Many of these children spend a substantial portion of their time sitting in school, in front of their computers and in front of their television sets. These children consume the empty calories, and then they do nothing to burn off these calories. The schools have eliminated many of the physical activities from their schedules. These schools are put under pressure to have the students score high on standardized tests so the administrators increase the time spent inside the classroom.
A child suffering from obesity has trouble moving around. Their lives are very uncomfortable because of the excess weight that they carry around constantly. These children often suffer from low self-esteem. They are often the butt of jokes because of their obvious weight problems. Some of them have great difficulty making friends and relating to the other children in their schools. A child suffering from obesity often has many more troubles because of their weight and low self-esteem. Some of these children suffer from depression and loneliness. Many officials and celebrities have discussed childhood obesity, and these people have promised to take action. Unfortunately, the support programs have been very slow to help these children.
