The Many Quotes On Child Obesity
By Linda Rogers
One thing that is predictable about our society is that we will become caught up in a new issue every few years, at the very least. These issues become the center of media events and political statements.
Recently, an issue which has come to the forefront is child obesity. One only has to do an internet search to find quotes on child obesity and they can be found in large numbers. Even more than the threat of epidemics in child obesity is the epidemic of people concerned with child obesity.
Quotes on child obesity can be found that were spoken by the past couple of presidents, by senators, by movie stars and by medical professionals. With such a popular issue, the better the quote sounds, the more publicity the speaker will receive. It begins to make people wonder if the concern is really for the children struggling with obesity or to focus the public eye on a certain person. If childhood obesity is truly a problem for our society, people need to focus less on fantastic quotes on child obesity and more on the problem of childhood obesity itself.
The Best Quote On Child Obesity
One of the best quotes on child obesity does not in fact even mention obesity. James Baldwin was quoted at the 2003 California Child Obesity Conference. Mr. Baldwin stated, “Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.”
Child obesity is not a problem with the children. It is a problem with the adults in society. Adults do not take the time to provide healthy meals and snacks for children. Adults are too busy with work and outside activities to encourage their children to spend time playing and participating in physical activity every day.
Adults need to develop healthy lifestyles that will encourage healthy lifestyles in children. This will be the most effective way to curb the growing problem with childhood obesity. Instead of coming up with cute quotes on child obesity, adults need to spend time showing children how to live healthy lives.
Adults in the public eye can show parents and children by example how to choose healthy foods to eat and healthy activities to participate in. Instead of having presidents like those in the recent past, who hate broccoli and love Jelly Bellies and Big Macs, we need presidents who provide healthy examples of nutritious foods.
