By Elizabeth Penning
Low-Density Lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol is also known as the bad cholesterol because when in high amounts it can cause fatal diseases. Cholesterol is produced by our body in the liver and is found naturally in our blood stream in the form of a waxy like substance; cholesterol is required for the proper functioning of our body as it contributes to building cell membrane, tissues and hormones. The fact still remains however, that high quantity of LDL cholesterol can clog your arteries and promote cardio vascular diseases, which subsequently lead to heart attack. Here are some natural ways in which you can maintain the ideal levels of your LDL cholesterol and/or lower it when necessary.
Watch Your Diet
One of the most important things that you must have heard several times from your doctor, family and friends is that a healthy and balanced diet will not only keep you healthy and slim but also ensure that your LDL cholesterol levels stay at their required levels. Foods high in cholesterol are those that derive from animals and they are, meat, seafood, egg yolks only not the whites, poultry and diary products; foods that are low in cholesterol are cereal, fruits and vegetables. The key to a successful nutritious and balanced diet is not cutting out those foods that are high in cholesterol as they are all needed by the body in one way or the other but enjoying them in moderate quantities.
Many of the foods that are high in LDL cholesterol are in fact also vital for the body such as diary products, which provides you with calcium to keep your bones strong or protein that is found in meat therefore you cannot explode these items from your diet but you can educate yourself by finding out the right portions that you must consume in order to provide your body with the required nutrients but also keep the levels of your LDL cholesterol low.
Natural Supplements The Lower LDL Cholesterol
There are many natural ingredients all around us that lower the bad cholesterol naturally such as garlic, onion or fish oil found in tablets. Try and work with the natural ingredients found around you to combat high levels of cholesterol rather then taking traditional medications, which also work well but almost always leave you with some other side effect.
