Christmas Stockings: Hang Them With Care
By Audrey Sneddon
Nearly everyone knows the tradition of Christmas stockings. You hang them over the fireplace and, come Christmas morning, you'll awaken to find them filled with little gifts and sometimes candy. Christmas stockings are another way to decorate your home for Christmas time. You can find Christmas stockings at any store that sells Christmas decorations. The stockings aren't like the normal stockings you wear everyday, they are oversized, large and they have a white, furry part on top that is traditionally where the person's name is painted, usually in red, glittery paint.
Keep A Coal Free Stocking
When the Christmas stockings are hung above the fireplace with care, as the old Christmas tale goes, it looks so festive, especially with everyone's names on them. Then, once Christmas time comes, those once empty stockings will be bustling with all sorts of goodies. Or, if the Christmas tale holds true, if you're not good throughout the year, you may find a piece of coal in your Christmas stocking. I don't know how often that happens, however. So, you should be able to keep a coal free stocking.
This Christmas, make sure that your Christmas stockings look good. If they're getting worn out from being used year after year, get a set of new ones. I know that your old Christmas stockings may be sentimental but a brand new set of Christmas stockings looks so festive hanging on your mantel. You can customize your Christmas stockings, too, so that they are decorated with the names in different colors or different fonts, etc.
This Christmas, make sure your Christmas stockings look great and are ready to hold as much as they can. When you wake up Christmas morning and you head towards your stocking with your name painted on the front, you won't be able to wait to rip it off the wall to see all that you got. However, if it looks empty and there's a lump at the bottom, you'd better not open it. I think you just got your first piece of coal. Next year, you better focus on being good.
Christmas stockings are a huge part of decorating for Christmas and, therefore, they are necessary for your mantel. If you don't already have stockings, you need to go get yourself some. Your family will appreciate it and it truly makes your house more festive for Christmas morning.
