The Symptoms of Fibromyalgia Affect Many In The United States
By Phillip Johnstone
The symptoms of fibromyalgia are obvious although the root of the problem remains a mystery to the medical professionals who have tried to investigate the cause. There are approximately six million people who suffer from this condition in the United States so medical researchers have tried to find the cause of the condition. The medical community has also tried to find relief for the people who suffer from this condition. The pain might ebb and flow in some patients, but in other patients the pain is constant and intense. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are pain throughout the body of the patient. The pain is especially intense at the joints of a patient.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia are located in what the medical professionals call tender points. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are very similar to the symptoms of arthritis, but a patient with arthritis often sees obvious signs of the condition. These signs include swelling and deformity of the joints of the patient. The symptoms of fibromyalgia do not appear in the same way. There is no outward sign of a problem, but the underlying pain remains. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are not usually apparent so often the patients seem to be imagining the pain. The pain from fibromyalgia can feel like a gnawing or burning sensation to the patient.
Doctors Treat The Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
Since the medical professionals cannot determine the root or cause of fibromyalgia, the doctors have to treat the symptoms of fibromyalgia for their patients. The symptoms of fibromyaligia are the real problem with this condition for most patients. This is not a life threatening disease so people are not going to die from the problem. People could live with this condition for many years, and many people do live with fibromyaligia for many years. These people just cannot live with the symptoms.
Another symptom of fibromyalgia is fatigue. People who suffer with fibromyalgia are constantly and deeply tired. This affects their performance in daily life. The people with this condition often have trouble sleeping. Some of the people do not feel the effects all day long and then the symptoms appear at night. The people have a difficult time sleeping which means that they are tired the next day when they have to work. People with fibromyalgia often cannot do much exercise because of this condition. Fibromyalgia also causes muscle twitches in some people, and these twitches add to the pain of the patient.
