Acid Cigars, the New Kids on the Block
By M. A. Fulmar
If you say you're going to smoke an Acid, you're sure to get some strange looks from the uninformed non smoker. You won't be taking any phycodelic trip with Acid Cigars though, but more a trip of the senses with this innovative line of cigars. No one can duplicate the unique blend of aromas or flavors of Acid Cigars. Originating in the minds of two New Yorkers and taking birth in the fields of Nicaragua Acid Cigars are a delight to the pallet of any cigar aficionado. Developed by fraternity brothers Jonathan Sann (Drew) and Marvin Samel. The business started in a small cigar kiosk in the World Trade Center Mall. The two young men decided to start their own line and. Drew Estates was founded in 1995
The Birth of an Acid Cigar
Cured for months with aromatic oils and herbs the tobacco leaf is infused with flavor and aroma. Acid Cigars have strange funky names like Star Monkey, Freedom Flight and Acid Blue. And if the names seem strange, the look of Acid Cigars is peculiar to say the least. One cigar, the Egg looks very much like the name implies. The leaves are aged for 120 days on a bed of pine. They are then infused with gourmet like concoctions of more than a hundred herbs, and essential oils as well as four different types of red wine and sangria, made by Drew Estates, of course. There are different blends within the Acid Cigar line including red, purple, blue, gold, as well as the Acid One blend and the new Acid Subculture.
An Untraditional Identity
Acid Cigars got their name from the inspirational art of Scott Chester. Chester, a talented industrial designer is owner of the studio in Brooklyn, New York called Arielle Chester Industrial Design, (ACID). Chester was hired in 1998 to create the branding art work that would represent the forward thinking in the production of Acid Cigars.
Acid Cigars are the new kids on the block and while Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel don't quite fit the stereo typical image of big time cigar executives, they're here to stay. They're definitely making waves in an industry steeped in old traditions. The techniques are new and unique and often viewed with skepticism, but Acid Cigars are gaining the respect of a whole new generation of cigar enthusiasts. If you have a chance, give them a try.
