Setting Up Camp—Don't Forget Your Camping Cookware!
By May Brindle
Ah, the great outdoors! Camping is a great way to enjoy the natural world around you—with a few comforts from home. Some campers prefer to rough it, while others bring as many luxuries from home as they can. You probably know that you should bring a tent, sleeping bags and a flashlight on your camping trip. But what about your camping cookware? Camping cookware can make all the difference in providing you with just a few more home luxuries; a meal cooked in camping cookware is one that you will savor as one of the best meals you have ever had. So pack your bags, load the car, and let's get cooking!
Pack Your Bags
When you are in the comfort of your own home, you probably don't even think about the cookware that is necessary for you to enjoy a meal. But when you are packing camping cookware for your camping trip, you will need to remember to bring several items that are essential to cooking any meal. Utensils are very important; you will need to bring not only knives, forks, and spoons, but a spatula as well. Next, make sure to bring cups and mugs, and don't leave out the water bottles.
If you can't function in the morning without your coffee, bring a coffeemaker and don't forget the coffeepot. Finally, you will need to bring plates, bowls, pots, and pans. Although this sounds like many things to take with you on your trip (perhaps too many), you will appreciate their assistance in creating a delicious meal on your camping adventure.
Consider This
There are many things to consider when you are purchasing camping cookware. First of all, you will need to make sure that you are buying high quality, durable camping cookware. Plastic may sound like a good idea, but it is easily damaged and may not be the ideal cookware for the rough conditions. A better option is aluminum cookware—it is lightweight, cheap, and cooks food quickly. Stay away from non-stick cookware, because once it is overheated it is permanently damaged and unusable.
The second thing you will need to think about space. Camping requires a lot of equipment, and you will save so much space simply by purchasing a space-efficient set of camping cookware. Many pots and pans designed for camping come in sets that “nest” inside each other, taking up less space.
Do you want to purchase a set of camping cookware or individual pieces? There are advantages and disadvantages to each. While a set is generally less expensive and more space-efficient, purchasing individual camping cookware will allow you to have exactly what you need without any extra pieces.
Don't be without the luxuries of home on your camping trip—purchase a set of camping cookware today!
