Granite Countertops Popular As Ever

Granite counter tops are as popular as ever and it is nothing to be too surprised about. Granite is a widely available type of igneous rock which are usually medium to coarse grained. It is the grain of the granite that gives it the ability for uniqueness that it rarely found in other materials - even when designed specifically for use as a counter top material.

Although widely used in restaurants and prefessional kitchens the granite counter top is now and extremely popular element of the residential designer kitchen. Whenever you see a photograph of a gorgeous kitchen with the coolest looking work surfaces it is, most likely, that you are looking at a fine example of the granite countertop.

The kitchen has always been the center of action in the home. Obviously the main use is the preparation of meals and it is in this area that the usefulness of granite as a work surface is greatly appreciated.

  • It will last longer than a lifetime - few products can safely say that
  • The patterns are varied with differing veins, speckles and swirls

  • It is so tough that it refuses to burn even when you place very hot pans on it
  • Granite looks great with nearly all other natural materials it's nature's way!

One thing that I find a really important point to consider your choices of counter top materials is that, even if you incredibly manage to damage it, granite is incredibly easy to repair - unlike many other materials, some of which can not be repaired at all.

Having a great kitchen in your home can dramatically increase the value of your property and in those rare cases that it doesn't have this effect it certainly makes the house easier to sell. It is amazing how the simple addition of granite counter tops can bring old and tired kitchens back to life instantly. Granite is now so popular that the fact that your kitchen has granite countertops can increase the value of your home.

I nearly forgot to mention that I have had the terrible experience of countertops fading in areas where they are exposed to strong direct sunlight. There is simply no way to remedy this except replacement. However granite is impossible to fade in this manner.

There are plenty of other uses for this material in the kitchen as it can easily be shaped and even etched with the use of modern lasers. Such an ancient material that is able to keep up with every modern demand thrown upon it - it is amazing stuff and you are really only limited by your own imagination.
