Forms of Internet Data Collection
By Myles Johnstone
Uses for Internet Data Collection
Internet data collection is an excellent way for companies to interface with their customers; there are millions of people on the internet at any given time and great majorities of them are shopping. This is a terrific opportunity for a company to learn about their customers; internet data collection for most companies is in the form of online surveys. Companies can reach their customers with the online surveys in several ways.
Many restaurants will give their customers a toll free number and website they may visit after they leave the establishment to take a survey about the service that they had received that day. As an added bonus the restaurants offer free items upon the completion of the survey and often enter the customer in a cash prize drawing. This can be a very effective way for these types of companies to reach many customers, as they have the convenience of taking the survey at their leisure.
Other times an internet retailer will email a customer satisfaction quiz to their customers after the sale, this is another way for a company to use internet data collection. Based on the results of the survey, these retailers may be able to better serve their customers or add additional features which may draw new customers. Online retailers will also enter participants in cash prize drawings for completing their surveys and volunteering to contribute to their internet data collection.
When browsing for products or support on other websites, many companies have pop-up quizzes for customers to instantly rate what they see and give immediate feedback. This information is sent to a webmaster or monitor and this person is able to compile an internet data collection to improve the website. Often the question will not only pertain to the specifics of the customer's purpose for visiting the website, but also ask questions about ease of website use, style of website, page loading times, and amount of relevant information.
In addition, if a customer was interested in giving their feed back and no such quiz was to populate, they could contribute to the company's internet data collection by clicking on the feedback or contact link located on the sitemap for the website. A customer should be sure to include any and all problems that they were to occur in using the website, or give positive feedback if no complaints were found; there is dual purpose to this, one is that a company cannot fix what they don't know is broken and the other is that companies in the interest of keeping their companies loyal will often offer special discounts or freebies to customers which give any feedback while visiting their website.
Internet data collection can be a vital part of any business, but there is no internet data collection without customers to give the feed back. If customers voice their opinions more often than not the companies will listen, they wouldn't have the quizzes available if they weren't interested in providing their customers with the best possible service.
