Other Dental Care: What Did Your Dentist Just Say?
By John Fraser
As usual, you go in to your dentist's office for your six month cleaning appointment and the cleaning begins. After a while, after poking around in your mouth with some sharp, metal instruments, he finds a sore spot. That's when he hits you with it. You need other dental care. Other dental care can name a great number of things, such as a root canal, a cavity filling, a crown, a deep scaling or even a tooth extraction. Your dentist knows best and it's best to listen to him or her. If your dentist suggests other dental care, besides just the normal cleaning, listen and make an appointment. If your teeth are important to you, you should trust your dentist and do whatever he or she suggests you do, even if it means other dental care.
Who Has That Kind Of Money?
Some people, when told by their dentist that they need other dental care, just brush the suggestion off. They either think it will cost too much money or they think that it's really not that serious. Whatever the reason, you're doing yourself a huge disservice. Imagine life without teeth. You couldn't chew, you couldn't talk right and you certainly wouldn't look the same. Sure, you could get dentures but they're uncomfortable and they could come out at the most inopportune times, such as on a date.
Take care of your teeth and schedule an appointment for the other dental care your dentist suggests. There are a number of ways you can have the other dental care paid for. You can look into getting dental insurance, which can help immensely when it comes to certain high-priced procedures, or you could even look into getting a dental credit or loan. However you can, search out ways to pay for the service. The other dental care is obviously important or your dentist wouldn't tell you to do it. You pay him or her to care for your teeth, it just makes sense that you would listen when told that you need other dental care.
If you're worried about the pain, there are ways around that. If you don't like needles, ask if you can have some gas. If you don't mind the needle, which only takes a moment and is only uncomfortable for a moment, your teeth will be completely numb and you won't feel a thing. Bring your MP3 player and get lost in the music. Just schedule the other dental care so that you can keep a mouth full of healthy teeth for many, many years.
