Body Detox with Fruit and Juice
By Linda Rogers
The human body has a natural, built-in body detox system that constantly removes harmful substances from the body through excretion. However this system is weakened or disrupted by habits like unhealthy nutrition, lack of sleep and exercise, anxiety, excessive medication etc. Given these varied causes of body poisoning, a number of approaches are directed toward body detox. Fruits and juices are one of these ways to heal the body from inside.
Reducing Fat
Extra fat is the main culprit in poisoning our body. Many toxic substances are soluble in the body fat and hence body detox programs are mostly directed toward reducing extra body fat.
Water Fasting
Water fasting speeds up the metabolism of body fat, resulting in the release of the toxins stored in the body fat. It is recommended that only individuals in good health condition should observe water fasting.
Juice Fasting
Juice fasting is a very effective way of body detox since it provides the body's immune system with vital enzymes that help the body's natural ability to fight toxins.
Acid Fruits
Acid fruits like lemons, oranges, and grapefruit are ideal for body detox. Tomatoes and pineapples are also useful acid fruits. To start your morning with a refreshing and detoxifying intake of fruit, you can squeeze three oranges, two mandarins and half a red grapefruit. Remember not to use too much of acid fruits, especially when you are ill. Be a little careful with the acid fruits when you are ill since excess use of acid fruits can cause an overreaction to toxins, leaving you bereft of essential nutrients by removing them along with the toxins.
Lemon Juice and Honey Fasting
Less stringent than water fasting, these means of detoxification provide some basic nutrition to the body and sustain a more comfortable cleansing process.
Detoxification with Raw Fruits and Veggies
Raw and unprocessed vegetables and fruits taken in an uncooked form deliver live anti-toxin enzymes to the body. These enzymes are mostly destroyed during cooking and hence the cooked form of these is not as useful. Signs of detoxification by means of raw food will include easy and regular bowel movements, nearly odorless excreta, and greater resistance to diseases.
The fiber contained in raw food is of immense value in digestion as it serves to cleanse the blood. It is especially recommended for healthy young individuals whose bodies have mostly remained in touch with the toxin-prone lifestyle of modern fast foods.
