The Health Dangers Of Diabetes Complications
By M. A. Fulmar
If you continue to operate a vehicle that is overheating there are usually repercussions associated with this action. Those repercussions could include damage to the radiator and a breakdown of the protective oil. If the effects of the oil in protecting the engine are neutralized there may be a complete destruction of the car's engine.
The same illustration could apply with diabetes complications. If an individual has been diagnosed with diabetes there must be action taken to manage this condition. Those action steps would include a proper diet, education, exercise and the possible use of medicine. If the disease of diabetes is not addressed there may be subsequent diabetes complications.
Some of those complications could include heart disease and stroke, kidney disease and vision problems.
Heart Disease And Stroke
A major diabetes complication is the adverse affect that is placed on the heart. This complication is due to the fact that diabetes adversely affects the blood flow of those who are diabetic.
This diabetes complication is attributed to that fact that the disease of diabetes does not allow for the proper assimilation of nutrients that are needed by body. Eventually, if left unchecked, this causes the destruction of cells within the body due to the lack of nutrition. Eventually, the blood, within the circulatory system, may begin to pool which may lead to the blockage of arteries and veins. This blockage of blood supply may possibly lead to a heart attack or stroke.
Kidney Disease
Another diabetes complication is the possibility of kidney failure. This is again due to lack of nutrients being broken down and properly utilized by the kidney cells. Also, poor circulation of the blood stream is a major factor that contributes to kidney disease as being part of the reality of diabetes complications.
When the sugar in the blood stream is not controlled this can cause extensive damage to the kidneys. Specifically, the excessive sugar in the blood stream causes tiny perforations in the filters that comprise the kidney. Obviously, when these filters are compromised their effectiveness is diminished. These damaged filters then cease to function properly and therefore allow protein and cells, comprised of sugar, into the urine.
Blindness
One additional diabetes complication is the possibility of blindness. This blindness is due to the weakened state of the vision cells when not properly nourished. This malnourishment is due to the lack of insulin needed to process glucose within the blood stream. This processed glucose is critical for the health and nourishment of the body's cells.
The weakened state of the vision cells may also be blocked from obtaining oxygen. In their weakened condition they are very fragile and may break which would lead to their bleeding. This results in blindness.
