How Bad Is The Diabetes Disease
By M. A. Fulmar
Diabetes is a disease, which can allow you lead a perfectly normal life, if you take care of a few precautions and are careful about your diet. Before we go into how it is treated, let us first of all understand what the diabetes disease is. This is a condition where the body is unable to convert sugar into energy, as it normally should do. If it not checked, and the sugar increases in the blood beyond acceptable levels, this disease can be fatal.
Who Is Prone To The Diabetes Disease?
A few decades ago, diabetes was a disease, which affected mostly aged people. Off late, the diabetes disease has been diagnosed in young people and even children. The diabetes disease is a cause of concern only if you have no access to insulin and/or you do not pay attention to your diet. These are the only two ways that a person suffering from diabetes will be harmed.
The bad news about the diabetes disease is that it is incurable. Once you have developed it, you can only manage to control it; it cannot be cured. Chronic diabetes coupled with negligence and irregular medication can result in a lot of problems, including blindness, hair loss, fatigue, memory loss, weight problems, loss of sensation of skin, and so on. This disease is fatal if not treated right; hence, you should take the advice of the doctor with extreme seriousness.
Once you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you should immediately do away with all types of starchy food. Replace that diet with a high protein and fiber content. Exercise regularly. Managing diabetes is the best way to handle this problem; and managing it, will need a lot of measures that will impact your life positively.
Sometimes, the symptoms are very mild; so mild that you would not be able to make it on your own. If you have had any person in your family suffering from diabetes, then you are very much in the risk category. However, diabetes nowadays can develop spontaneously; hence, one should be very careful about the identification of the diabetes symptoms if any one of the parents, their siblings and their parents (your grandparents) had this disease.
There are three main ways to “manage” disease, (i) right medication – with insulin, (ii) moderate exercise, and (iii) complete control of diet. If these three aspects are taken care of, you will not have to worry too much about the diabetes disease, because you will hardly experience it.
