Great Easter Costumes For This Year
By Audrey Sneddon

Easter is a very joyous Christian festival. It was actually one of the very first festivals that Christians celebrated because it commemorates Jesus Christ's resurrection.

This holiday is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon which occurs after the vernal equinox. Many people wear Easter costumes, eat Easter eggs and give gifts to their children.

The tradition behind Easter eggs most likely came about in the earlier days of the church when people were forbidden to eat eggs during the 40 days before Easter, which are known as Lent. So, eggs were then allowed to be eaten again on Easter Sunday, so most people ate them again at that time.

Of course, there is also the tradition of coloring Easter eggs. This tradition dates back to the time of the ancient Egyptians and Persians. These people practiced this custom during their spring festival.

In the Egyptian language, the word “un” means “rabbit” and it also means “open” and “period.” Thus, the rabbit became associated with the idea of lunar and human periodicity. As such, it also became the universal symbol of fertility and the renewal of life.

This is how the rabbit became linked with the Easter. The U.S. now has a fable that says that the Easter bunny lays eggs that are hidden in nests for children to find.

Easter Costumes For You To Choose From

Easter costumes are great for wearing in a pageant, Easter parade, or at an Easter egg hunt with your children. These costumes can be found in many retail stores, but if you are unable to find what you are looking for, you can surely find it online.
