Electric Scooters Are Not Just For The Handicapped
By A. M. Kelly

There are many benefits to owning an electric scooter and they are for everyone, not just the handicapped. One of the most obvious benefits is that you simply plug it into an electrical outlet to make it work and you no longer need to spend a small fortune on gas. This is especially at this time when world oil prices continue to skyrocket.

There are several "green" aspects to the electric scooter that many now consider of great importance. Firstly many of the batteries can be recharged from renewable energies such as solar power but, by avoiding the use of gas, there are no emissions to harm the environment.

Scooters are extremely easy to use and do not require much learning beyond basic safety. Obviously the electric scooter is a vastly cheaper alternative to the car but they can also get you to your destination faster. It's comparatively small size gives the rider far greater maneuverability enabling it to negotiate even the heaviest of traffic jams. Of it's many benefits this makes it the vehicle of choice for many living in a city.

Many consider electric scooters expensive. True, in the long run, they can eat up your electricity consumption but many look to alternative energy such as the mentioned solar power but also small wind turbines. However many consider this aspect unimportant as it affords the owner such convenience that it outweighs all other factors. To most this convenience is worth the increased electric bill.

Because electric scooters and any other type of scooter for that matter are also not contrived, people who love the open will get a kick out of it. It will not protect you from the rain, however, but some people do find romance in bathing in the rain while rushing through the streets on a scooter. But, of course, that's very subjective.

Most people are aware of the many benefits the electric scooter brings to the elderly and the handicapped. The elderly & handicapped often find it difficult to get from one place to another before but, with the use of an electric scooter, their mobility is greatly increased. Unfortunately the electric scooter is not really suitable for use on long trips due to the restrictions of the battery and the difficulties in recharging it, though, However it is most useful for getting to a nearby park or your local grocery store.

Portability is another benefit that many consider important. Many electric scooters are extremely portable and can be easily folded enabling them to be placed in a car. As mentioned earlier they are not really suitable for long trips but by taking one with you in your car you can experience all of the benefits at your chosen destination.

Modern advances in technology have been incorporated into the design of the electric scooter. New materials have made it lighter and more energy efficient but the most exciting developments have been in the batteries. One of the few disadvantages is the reliance upon the battery. They are heavy and bulky so adding more to increase the range is not a wise option. However advances in technology have created much better batteries and it is highly likely that there will be continued improvements in this area.

Scooters are fun to use, even children get a buz whizzing around on them. Though most beneficial to the elderly or handicapped the electric scooter will always be enjoyed by all of us. The price of them seems to be on a continually downward proggression so this is making it an affordable option for virtually everybody. The articles below will help you understand it far more and we hope that you find them of use.
