Finding Your Own Personal Style: A Guide to Teen Fashion
By Francis Sinclair
Are you totally lost when it comes to teen fashion? There are so many different trends out there; it is hard to keep up. You may be having a hard time finding things that fit you right. Or maybe, your clothes are a mismatch of different styles with no distinct fashion coming through. Whatever the problem is, it is not difficult to learn the rules of teen fashion and create your own personal style. It can be very hard to find clothes that fit you just right, but this is one of the most important aspects of teen fashion. Too many teenagers wear clothes that don't fit them right—walking through a high school all you see is girls in skin-tight tops and jeans, and boys swimming in oversized pants and shirts. This look is extremely unattractive, especially if your body type is not suited for that type of clothing.
Perhaps you are a few pounds overweight—and that's fine. Just don't try to squeeze your size nine hips into a pair of size three jeans, or pull an extra-small shirt over your medium-sized body. There is nothing more unattractive then seeing a roll of tummy fat oozing out from underneath a too-tight top. Clothes come in sizes for a reason, and it is important to wear clothes that flatter your body. A little bit of searching, and you are sure to find something that fits perfectly.
Find an Inspiration
Find a teen fashion influence—and stick with them. Follow their fashion choices and try to imitate it, while tweaking them to your own taste. There are so many different well-dressed celebrities out there; it is not hard to find one who's teen fashion choices you admire. Try celebrities like Gwen Stefani, Scarlett Johansson, or Sienna Miller. You could also choose a designer as your teen fashion influence as well. Once your creativity gets rolling, you will find it hard to stop.
Accentuate the Positives
Do you hate your upper arms? Maybe you think that your butt is too large, or your calves are too fat. Everyone has at least one thing they don't like about their body, but the important thing to remember is to either hide or ignore these parts and enhance the body parts you do like. Do you have a really slender neck, or a really narrow waist? Wear clothes that flatter your body, and you'll start to forget about the things you don't like.
