The Importance of Fire Alarm Bells
By Arthur Sneddon
Fire is by far the most dangerous and devastating because it spreads extremely fast and does not spare anything in its way, materials or human beings. It is a necessity today to have a fire alarm whether it is at home or in the office because it will prevent a disaster and save lives in the process. Fire alarms are usually activated by a higher temperature of heat and as we know hot air rises and this is why fire detectors are placed on the ceiling; smoke detectors are placed in the same place as well because smoke like heat will rise. As soon as the fire detector senses excessive heat it will become activated and the fire alarm bells will sound. Fire alarm bells are very loud in order to reach those that are not in close range, sleeping and/or have trouble hearing. There are many types of fire alarm bells depending on its use, for example a house fire alarm will have fire alarm bells that sound like the alarm clock but continuous so, you don't confuse it with an alarm clock.
Pay Attention to Fire Alarm Bells
Fire alarm bells in a office or factory resembles a siren and many times factories and offices that work with fire hazardous materials, chemicals and substances are often required to conduct regular fire drills to ensure that the employs recognize and act in a calm manner should they be faced with a crisis. There are instances where fire is the number one enemy such as a ship, and where people's lives are directly at risk because if they are at sea they don't have anywhere to go but evacuate the ship in case the fire has taken over and it cannot be contained. In such cases the crew members are trained regularly to recognize the fire alarm bells and know exactly what their duties are as well as follow precise commands of the captain in order to save the lives of the passengers and theirs as well.
Helpful Tip
Teach all the family member to recognize the fire alarm bells and also what to do in case of an emergency; talking and training prior to an accident will help keep calm and act rationally during a fire when most of us panic because we were not expecting a fire and did not have a plan of action ready.
The most important things to know during a fire is where the fire extinguisher is located and if you cannot do anything about containing the fire call 911 immediately, give them your precise location, isolate the fire if possible after you are safe.
