Fishing is a popular hobby among many, because it allows them to just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. However, fishing can also get a little boring at times while waiting for a catch, so it is necessary to find things to remain entertained, and this can happen with a fishing game.

When you think about fishing games, chances are that you think of the board game. In this game, players have to wind up a little pond and have magnetic fish snap at their fishing rod. Whoever catches the most fish wins.

While a fishing game can indeed be a board game, it is also the term given to any kind of game that people make up while they are fishing. This game can be anything from a card game, to a game of bets.

For example, if a group of adults are out fishing, they can place bets (preferably in something other than money to make it more of an entertaining game than anything else) on who will catch the first fish. Or, people can place bets on who will catch the biggest fish. When it comes to what to bet, bet on something like who will buy dinner.

Fishing games can also be educational. For example if a family is out on a boat fishing, then the parents could have a fishing game where the smaller children would point out something and try to name it. This is a great way for children to learn about nature.

Another fishing game that people could play involves a guessing game. Someone says “I see something that is yellow,” and secretly writes own the object. The players have to guess what that object is. The person who guesses the most correct object wins the game.

When it comes to safety, there are certain fishing games that people should not play. Never include games that involve drinking alcohol while on a boat. Also, don't play games like limbo or musical chairs, because that could easily cause the boat to shake and people to fall overboard.

The fun thing about fishing games is that not only can they be a fun way to pass the time, but they can also be a fun way to make memories, so that years later the people who played that game can say “Remember the time…” So, have fun with whatever fishing game that is chosen, but remember to stay safe at the same time.

Possibly the strangest fish is the seahorse. Firstly it appears upright swimming on it's tail but, strangely the female lays her eggs in a pouch which is on the male's belly. When they hatch they simply leave the pouch and then swim away. Seahorses mate for life!
