The Right Fishing Line
By Angus MacLeod

Fishing is something that you have probably been doing your whole life. It is usually something that is done to bring families together. A father and son, or an uncle or grandfather will take children out to fish. As you grow older, you are going to find that you are fishing with your friends, or your spouse, or your own children. Fishing is something that can be done any time of the year, and it is something that anyone can do. However, the equipment that you have with can make all of the difference when it comes to what you catch. For one, your fishing line, something that is often overlooked, ends up being very important.

Finding the right line

When it comes to fishing, the point is to bring something in the boat or onto the shore or dock, which was originally in the water. The fishing line, which is a line that is wound through the mechanism in your fishing pole, has on the end the bait. When the fish bites the bait, which is held on by a hook, the hook is lodged in the mouth of the fish, and the fish is caught. Then, you use the fishing line, and your fishing pole, to bring the fish in. Whether you kill and gut the fish, for eating or for mounting, or whether you catch the fish and release it, the point of fishing is to bring in the fish, and the fishing line has a lot to do with that.

It is very easy to fall into the trap of buying cheap fishing line because you think that they are all the same. However, some fishing line works better for bigger fish, some for smaller. Some works better depending on what type of fishing you are doing, whether you are using a bobber or a sinker, or what kinds of casting you are doing. There are fishing lines that are made up of different materials, and different strengths and thicknesses. The challenge is to find the right kind of line for the fishing that you want to do. If you can find the right kind of fishing line, you are going to catch more fish, and you are going to have a better time fishing. The better time fishing that you have, the more likely you are going to be to pass on this sport to further generations. It will become something in your family.

Interesting Fish Facts & Fishing Tips
If you happen to catch a fish that appears to have a deformed backbone (usually curved) it could be a sign of poor diet, especially vitamin C. This has been observed in hatchery raised fish so it is possible that it could happen to wild fish.
