Essential Golf Equipment: Golf Carts
By Angus MacLeod
Playing the game of golf provides the golfer an opportunity to take advantage of many benefits associated with this activity. One of those benefits is that this game satisfies an individual's need to be competitive. This competitiveness can be satisfied by competing against other players or against themselves. The golfer who chooses to compete against themselves is accomplished by practicing the game and reducing the number of strokes that it takes for the golfer to complete nine or 18 holes.
Other benefits of playing golf can include the opportunity to get out into the fresh air, interact with others on the golf course and exercise. This exercise is realized as the golfer walks the golf links.
However, perhaps the golfer, for whatever reason, is unable to fully walk the golf course to play their game. A golfing accessory that can help facilitate the individual to play their golf game, while minimizing the need to walk, is through the use of a golf cart. Before utilizing a golf cart it is important to understand how a golf cart works and, if looking to purchase a golf cart, which features to consider before the purchase is made.
How A Golf Cart Works
A golf cart is a miniaturized vehicle that can be utilized by golfers. This vehicle allows for two golfers to travel quickly from golf shot to golf shot. The advantages of utilizing a golf cart during a golf game will help to speed up the play of the game as well as conserve the energy of the golfers.
The dimensions of a golf cart are generally 4' by 8' by 6'feet high and weigh anywhere from 900 to 1000 pounds. In addition, these golf carts can be powered by utilizing one of two power sources. Those power sources are a gas engine and electricity.
Similar to any automatic transmission vehicle, golf carts have two pedals. These pedals are on the floor board and in close proximity to each other. The pedal on the right is the accelerator pedal and the pedal on the left is the brake panel. Once the ignition key has been inserted and turned the power source will be engaged.
Movement begins as the accelerator is pressed downward. This movement automatically disengages the brake. When the destination is reached the foot is removed from the accelerator and the power to the vehicle stops immediately. Also, when removing the foot from the accelerator it is important to depress the brake pedal.
Features
There are many features that can be purchased to accessorize the golf cart. Some of those accessories include specific customizing, installing protective covers in the event of inclement weather, fancy bumpers, chrome accessories, etc.
In addition there are many accessories that can be placed within the actual passenger space of the golf carts. These accessories can include storage units for golfing equipment, food and beverage coolers, GPS systems, etc.
