A GPS Navigator is an Efficient Way to Stay Safe
By Jimmy MacLeod
A regular driver, a ship's captain, or a pilot all have one thing in common while they are traveling: they want to be sure that they get where they have to be on time, and without getting lost. While many different computer systems have been in use for the past couple of decades to help with direction, they are becoming updated thanks to the use of a GPS Navigator.
What is a GPS Navigator?
To understand what a GPS Navigator is, you must first understand what “GPS” stands for. GPS stands for “Global Positioning System.” Thus, a GPS Navigator is a satellite navigation system that is fully functional. More than 24 GPS satellites use precise radio timing signals to determine quite accurately, and from any place on earth, things like altitude, longitude, and latitude, at any time of the day.
Vehicles and GPS Navigators
More and more frequently, cars are being built that include GPS navigation systems. These systems can also be purchased separately, and then installed in the car later. Instead of having to check a regular paper map that so often was placed behind a seat for safe keeping, now all the driver has to do is look near the dashboard for the moving map display on the navigation system. This system provides not only directions, but information regarding how fast the vehicle is going, and where it is in relation to landmarks and streets.
Ships and GPS Navigators
A GPS navigation system is very important to ships, as they have to find their way throughout vast oceans. These systems allow ships to know exactly where they are going, even when there is no nearby port. This system is also very useful when someone falls overboard, as it can pinpoint where the person fell, and thus that person can be quickly found and brought to safety.
Planes and GPS Navigators
In actuality, planes still primarily use other means of navigation, because GPS navigation systems are still being perfected for aeronautical use. However, some types of aircraft do use GPS navigation for navigation that is en-route.
How You Can Get One of These Systems
If you would like a GPS Navigator for your vehicle, visit a local dealership and inquire as to what model would be best for your car. If you are looking for a safe and reliable way to get directions, purchase a GPS Navigator.
