Ask Your Doctor About Elidel Hair Loss
By Wendy Simons
Elidel is a drug that is used to treat eczema, which is a skin ailment characterized by red, itchy and inflamed skin. Usually, your dermatologist will prescribe Elidel for eczema but you want to be especially careful when taking this medication as there are some known side effects. For instance, Elidel hair loss is one of these side effects. That isn't to say that by taking Elidel, you will wake up one morning without any hair but it should be noted that Elidel hair loss is a possibility and it should be thoroughly discussed with your doctor before even taking one dose of the medication.
Do Your Own Research
The best thing you can do when you are prescribed Elidel is to conduct your own research regarding this particular medication. This is really something you should practice no matter what kind of medication you are prescribed. Of course you should listen to your doctor but your doctor is human, too, and everyone can make mistakes. Sometimes, a certain medication will be prescribed when there are others available, and without all the side effects.
Do your own research so that you can learn about Elidel and hair loss. You never know, you could find that Elidel maybe isn't the right prescription for you and you might be able to find an alternative that won't give you such a nasty side effect. If you do find another medication, take the information to your doctor so that he or she can best determine if this new medication might be right for you.
Only your doctor should prescribe medicine or diagnose diseases or ailments. Doing your own research is great and all but all of your medical decisions should come from your doctor. If you have eczema, Elidel might be for you but you should know that there is a possibility that you could experience Elidel hair loss.
Hair loss is a devastating experience for many people and it should be discussed thoroughly with your dermatologist or doctor before taking Elidel. You should never stop taking the drug, however, even if you do experience hair loss because you should never make any medical decisions without first contacting the doctor who prescribed it to you.
If you have eczema, there is help out there and that help can come in the form of the wonderful drug Elidel. Call your doctor today and ask about Elidel but make sure you ask specifically about Elidel hair loss.
