Finding a Useful Home Remedy for Head Louse

Head louse is an age old problem for so many people that there has now been developed a sort of home remedy for head louse. Following is a list of some of the most popular home remedies for treating louse invasion.

Lime Garlic Lotion

Mix one teaspoon each of limejuice and homemade garlic paste to form a lotion. Rub the scalp of the person infested with lice with this mixture. Leave it there for half an hour and then wash. It will kill most of the lice.

Lime Almond Mixture

Take ten almonds and grind them to make a paste. Then mix it in three teaspoons of limejuice. Apply this mixture on the scalp and leave it there for half an hour. Wash your head.

Vinegar

Vinegar can serve as a good home remedy for head louse. Wash your hair with it but take care not to let it enter your eyes or taken in through nose or mouth. Wash well to remove all of it from the head.

Mayonnaise

Another effective home remedy for head louse is mayonnaise. Use it to massage your head with, leaving it like this for two hours. Comb gently to remove the dead lice. Remember not to leave mayonnaise on your head for long or it will do harm.

Herbal Oils

Add two to three tablespoons of tea tree oil to half a cup of olive oil. Rub this mixture into the scalp and leave it there for half an hour to one hour. Now wash the hair and then rinse it with vinegar. After ten minutes, rinse with hot water and comb with a fine-toothed comb. Another way to use tea tree oil as a home remedy for head louse is to add four drops of it in the commonly used shampoo and wash your head with it. Better use your own tea tree oil instead of relying on the publicized information that certain shampoos contain tea tree oil.

Lamp Oil

Pour lamp oil over your hair, so that all of it receives the oil well. Wrap your hair with a sheet (but not a cloth) and leave it for 15 minutes. Remove the wrapping and shake your head over a sink, followed by combing with a fine-toothed comb. To get the oil completely out of your hair, you must wash with shampoo and conditioner repeatedly.

Washing Household Items

To deal with lice satisfactorily, it is not enough to use a home remedy for head louse only for the person(s) under lice attack. You must wash thoroughly all the items that can be possible media for spreading lice including towels, clothes, bed linens, car seats, stuffed animals etc.
