Headache Symptom: How to Tell When you are Suffering From a Headache

In regards to a headache symptom, there are actually many, and so you may be suffering from chronic headaches or something of the sort and not even know it; recognizing and understanding the general symptoms is incredibly important, and this way you will be able to tell whether it is a headache symptom or something else.
What is a Headache Symptom?
A headache symptom can be many things, anything from mild to severe pain or pressure in the head, to chills or a fever. A headache symptom will most often take place in the general area of the head and neck however symptoms can most certainly show up in other parts of the body as well.
Tension-type headaches are brought on most of the time by such things as stress, overexertion, loud noise, and other external factors, and then migraines on the other hand are more intense and throbbing headaches that occur on either one or both sides of the head, and migraines are often fueled by certain food items, such as red wine, chocolate, and aged cheeses for instance.
Then there are cluster headaches, and these cause excruciating pain. The symptoms are that of severe and stabbing pains that center around one eye usually, and eye tearing and nasal congestion often occur on the same side. These headaches will usually last for about 15 minutes at a time, and they are considered as being the worst type of headache of all.
In regards to the treatment that is available for headaches, basically you first have to be able to properly determine exactly what type of headache it is that you are suffering from, and this can only be done by going to a trained and qualified professional who knows what they are talking about.
From here they will diagnose you and let you know what type of headaches you are experiencing, and then he will work with you so that you can find out what the best method of treatment would be for your particular situation; different treatments work differently with everyone, and so what works well for one person may not even work at all for you.
This thus explains why it is so important to get yourself checked out at the first sign of any headache pain, so that you doctor can more quickly help to figure out a method of treatment.
