Coping With a Rebound Headache
By M. A. Fulmar
A rebound headache is actually considered as being one of the worst types of headaches, and this is because the rebound headache is basically a rebound of another headache, and so it is increased and intensified pressure and pain. A rebound headache is basically a headache that you end up with because you go in search of a little relief from the constant pounding on your head.
Then you end up taking pills and other medications for your headache, and before you know it you are suffering from a rebound headache due to the fact that you are overusing medications.
It is important to remember that exceeding instructions on the labels of medications will do nothing positive to the table, and so you need to make sure that you take them properly and that you do not use too many different medications at one time.
Prevention
As well, in order to help yourself from getting a rebound headache in the first place, you may be able to take a migraine-preventive medication, and you will also want to make changes to your lifestyle, including quitting any unhealthy habits, eating a healthier diet, and increasing the amount of physical activity that you do.
However the first thing that you need to do is to get past the vicious cycle of rebounding that is taking place in your life, and there are certain signs that you can see in fact that will let you know whether or not you are actually experiencing rebound headaches or if it is something different.
The most common signs are as follows: you suffer from headaches daily or every other day; your pain intensifies about three hours after your last dose of medication; your pain medications don't work as well as they used to and it is noticeable; you take medications, but your headaches are in fact getting worse; you rely more on pills, more often; you take medication for mild headaches, and you often try to avoid a headache by using medication.
Many people just assume that because they are in pain, and because medications are meant to help relieve pain, that they can just take as much of it as they want; this of course is completely untrue, and we can see now that in fact taking too much medication can actually make you worse off than you were to start with.
