First, many burglars will "case" a joint before attempting an actual robbery, and the cameras may alert the owners to the burglar's presence before he or she actually has a chance to commit the crime. Another use for home security surveillance cameras is to check on the welfare of children or the elderly. Usually, the people in this situation know they are being observed and may even welcome the presence of the camera. When cameras are being used for this purpose, it's important to make sure that the cameras cover as much of the house as possible. It may be wise to spend money on motion sensor technology so that all the cameras do not have to run all the time.

Home security surveillance cameras can serve several valuable purposes. If used correctly along with other security measures, they can also bring peace of mind to home owners, parents, and adult caregivers.
