Get Your Family Motivated with a House Cleaning Contract
By Audrey Sneddon

You have a large house, several children, and a spouse. Your house, like all houses that get a lot of use, needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. However, with each family member busy, its hard to get everyone to contribute cleaning. You don't want to have to get a maid, so it is time to issue some house cleaning contract rules.

The House Cleaning Contract Rules

Now, when you think of a house cleaning contract, chances are that you assume it is the contract that is between a customer and the maid or house cleaning service that they employ. While this is true, a house cleaning contract can also be utilized for families.

Begin with what is sure to be one of the messiest areas of the house: the children's rooms. Most likely they are often “too busy” to clean them, but remind them that they have to at least once a week for sanitary reasons. Some parents might go as far as to tell their children that they might end up with bugs in their room, but that story can be told at your discretion.

When it comes to the children's rooms being cleaned, stipulate in the contract that an inspection will be done on a certain day of the week, and if the room is found not have been cleaned, then the child in question won't get television for the night. It really is amazing how important a television is to children, so no doubt their rooms will be clean.

The next facet of the house cleaning contract should be dedicated to the bedroom that you share with your spouse. Most bedrooms have one side devoted to the belongings of one spouse and the other side devoted to the belongings of the other. Make a pact that you and your spouse will tidy up your respective areas of the bedroom at least once a week as well.

When it comes to the areas of the house that the family all share, such as the kitchen and the living room, be sure to have each member of the family take a turn in cleaning that area. This can be on a rotating schedule done weekly. A house cleaning contract makes the job of cleaning a large house more efficient, and it also teaches everyone in the family the importance of responsibility.
