Insomnia can be defined as a condition in which an individual is unable to fall asleep or stay asleep. An individual who suffers from insomnia is called an insomniac. Generally, the insomniac will feel tired, rundown and lethargic despite the number of hours of sleep they may attain.
One of the important facts about insomnia is that this condition is not a disease. Insomnia is a symptom of some other condition, situation or activity that is being experienced by the individual who is suffering from insomnia. There are many factors that contribute to the condition of insomnia. Those factors can include a change in sleeping habits, added stress, anxiety, dietary habits, changes in the environment, etc.
There are many actions available to treat the symptoms of insomnia. Some of those treatments can include natural treatments such as a change in a person's diet getting the proper amount of exercise, utilizing meditation, aromatherapy, etc. Other treatments can include the use of prescription medication. One such medication that may help with sleepless due to disorders is the association of Seroquel and insomnia episodes.
Seroquel and insomnia are linked together as a possible combination in treating insomnia that is due to a number of conditions. However, Seroquel is a serious medication. Therefore, it is important to know what Seroquel is, what insomniac inducing conditions it is indicated for and the possible side effects.
What Is Seroquel?
Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication that, when prescribed and taken, alters the actions of certain chemicals within the body. Specifically, the medication is used to treat the symptoms of medical conditions that are psychotic in nature. These medical conditions may include those afflicted with the disorder of being bipolar or schizophrenia.
Insomniac Inducing Conditions Treated By Seroquel
The affects of Seroquel are sedative in nature. Seroquel and insomnia can be matched together when treating certain disorders that can result in an individual experiencing insomnia. These symptoms are controlled which result in the individual being able to sleep.
Some of those treatable disorders that link the controlling medication of Seroquel and insomnia experiences together are restless leg syndrome, anxiety disorders and other neurological disorders.
Possible Side Effects
As with most prescription medications there are potential side-effects. When considering the possibility of bonding Seroquel and insomnia treatments together to alleviate symptoms that cause insomnia it is important to consider the possibility of serious side effects.
Some of those side effects in taking Seroquel may include fever, excessive thirst, urination and hunger, headaches, suicidal thoughts, numbness in the muscles and visual problems.
