The Purpose and Significance of Christian Jewelry
By Charles Wilkinson

Jewelry is mainly worn to enhance one's appearance but also to symbolize a status such as, engagement, marriage and/or religious purposes such as the Christian jewelry. Most religious groups have specific jewelry that symbolizes their beliefs and which they wear or hand in the house for good luck. The most common Christian jewelry is the cross, which today is worn by the Christians and non-Christians alike as it is more of a fashion then a religious symbol; the cross was always part of the fashion world, whether it was worn of jewelry or on the clothes. Famous celebrities such as Madonna are known for using cross-shaped jewelry in many of her musical clips and movies.

Other types of Christian jewelry include the rosary, which is usually made of beads and was also worn by many celebrities as a fashion statement. The cross with a picture of Jesus on it or a pendant with Virgin Mary and Jesus are also common style jewelry. Christians that wear Christian jewelry do it to show their beliefs in their religion as well as for protection and good luck.

Shopping For Christian Jewelry

Due to the fact that Christian jewelry is popular with people for all kinds of religion or who don't believe in any at all, you can find Christian jewelry in all jewelry stores made out of precious materials such as platinum, gold and silver with or without gemstones. You can also shop for specific Christian jewelry in churches or in department stores where they are not as expensive as those found in the jewelry stores and sometimes offering the same effect or better, depending on your choice and style.

Other Ways to Wear And Or Display Christian Jewelry

Many hang Christian jewelry such as the cross and/or the holy rosary for good luck in their cars, homes and offices; however most wear it around the neck, rings or charms on their bracelets. Many personalize their jewelry to make it more intimate and add a personal touch especially if it is presented as a gift.

Even though Christian jewelry such as the cross should symbolize a Christian today, due to the fact that many wear it without being one it has become more of a fashion item and therefore it can be found in as many sizes, styles and colors as you can imagine to suit and fit every personality. You are sure to walk away satisfied.
