Use Jewelry Boxes For Safe Storage

One of the traits that all jewelry boxes have in common is that they are designed to protect jewelry when it is not being worn. While some may be used to display a person's jewelry collection, most are intended to protect the pieces from being damaged or from becoming lost while not being used.

There are many jewelry boxes styles and sizes, depending on how much jewelry you own, and its value will help you decide on the type of box you buy. From the small box that sits on your dresser or inside a drawer to a freestanding unit with numerous drawers and hooks, jewelry boxes can be tough to pick out.

Typically, jewelry boxes will have doors, many with glass fronts, in which to hang necklaces and larger bracelets. Some of the hooks for necklaces may even be on a turning block so they can be selected without fear of them being tangled together. Some of the larger boxes will have doors that open outwards with additional hooks on the inside of the door to allow more storage space.

Many Drawers Offered For Ring Storage

Either under the opening for hanging jewelry or as part of it, there are usually drawers used for the storage of rings and other items of jewelry such as brooches and pins. The drawers designed specifically for rings generally have padded layers inside for the rings to fit into securely. Many jewelry boxes will allow for the separation of jewelry types such as one drawer for gold, one for silver and another for mixed alloy metals.

For those with expensive jewelry, most jewelry boxes will be equipped with a lock of some sort, but most will keep the most expensive pieces in a safe hidden from normal view. Their jewelry boxes are usually filled with pieces of lesser value and those that they wear on a daily basis. Keeping the doors locked is generally considered a means of keeping honest people honest. Unless the unit is bolted to the floor, however all of your jewelry could disappear at one time.

Keeping your jewelry in one place has the advantage of being able to choose what you wear at any given time without having to scour the house for just the right necklace or bracelet for the occasion. Using jewelry boxes can help keep your jewelry safe and undamaged, but also keeps it organized to make it simple to find what you need.
