Wedding jewelry is for a very special day for a bride and a groom. This day celebrates their commitment to each other in front of family and friends. Far in advance of this very special day, the wedding couple starts to plan their wedding. Often this whole process starts with a piece of wedding jewelry, an engagement ring. The engagement ring is the first piece of wedding jewelry that shows the love and commitment of a couple. An engagement ring usually only goes to the prospective bride. The groom gets nothing at this point. The traditional engagement ring often has a diamond and is worn on the left hand of the bride-to-be.

After the engagement is announced, the plans for the wedding begin. The bride usually has a great time showing the first piece of wedding jewelry to friends and family. The engagement ring is a tradition that is familiar to all so the bride does not have to say a word. She can display the ring and people will know that she has made a commitment to marry. The arrangements take time so there is usually six months at least before the wedding date. The couple needs to find a place for the ceremony and a setting for a reception. Once these important arrangements are finalized, the bride and groom can move on to other duties for their big day.

The best places for a wedding reception are usually booked far in advance so those arrangements be must complete before anything else can be done. The bride has to find the perfect dress, and the groom has to decide on the clothes for his friends in the wedding party. The invitations must be chosen, addressed and mailed to all the friends and family on the list. Then the bride and groom have to choose their most important pieces of wedding jewelry, the wedding rings.

The wedding rings are usually two gold bands. The couple often chooses two gold bands that are similar. The gold bands are a symbol that the couple is committed to a life together because they love each other. This wedding jewelry is presented on the wedding day, but it is supposed to last forever. The gold is a metal that should last a very long time so this has become the traditional metal for this wedding jewelry. Sometimes the bride and groom will pass this wedding jewelry onto their children when they die because it is the most special wedding jewelry.
