Pool Landscaping Tips for All Pool Types
By Jim Carpenter

Your pool is the main attraction in your backyard during the summer months. However, since you want the pool to look its best, you have decided that you would like to do a little pool landscaping. However, there are many different pool landscaping ideas that you could implement, so you should follow some tips in order to get the most value for your time and money.

The first thing that you need to consider when thinking about pool landscaping is the kind of pool you have. For example, if you have an in ground pool, the way that you would do your pool landscaping would have to be different from how you would do that for an above ground pool. If you have an in ground swimming pool, first of all consider what kind of pool landscaping you want to do. Will the pool landscaping be simple, or will it be ornate? If you just want to do some simple landscaping, you should try the flower barrel idea.

In Ground Pool

First, go to a local gardening center and purchase a wooden barrel, the size and color of which can be up to you. Next, buy some potting soil and the flowers that you would like to put in the barrel. Once you get everything home, fill the bucket up to the top with soil, and plant the flowers. You can purchase more than one barrel and place them around the pool if you like.

You should not plant things like bushes too close to an in ground pool, because the roots might grow to such an extent that they puncture the walls of the pool. This is something that many pool owners find out too late. Thus, it is best to keep with simple pool landscaping when it comes to an in ground pool.

Above Ground Pool

If you have an above ground pool, you should avoid planting plants or bushes with long roots for the same reason. When it comes to the kind of pool landscaping you can do, consider bordering the pool with flowers at the base. Or, you can also implement the barrel idea, especially if you have an adjoining pool deck.

If you would prefer not to do your own landscaping, you can always hire a professional; together, you can design the best look. You can also search the internet for landscaping ideas. With proper research and planning, you are sure to find the perfect pool landscaping ideas for you and your family.
