Taking Care Of the Trouble Spots—Thigh Liposuction
By M. A. Fulmar
Liposuction is used throughout the world and the United States as a solution to fixing those little trouble spots that you just can't ignore. In men, those trouble spots are usually the abdomen, neck, and love handles area. In women, the areas that liposuction is most performed on is the butt, hips, and the thighs. As people age, fat deposits relocate themselves. In women, they tend to relocate themselves in one of these three areas. Fat also tends to appear in these areas due to genetics, and it can be nearly impossible to get rid of through diet and exercise. Thus, many women feel that it is necessary to have thigh liposuction performed.
Why Do Women Want Thigh Liposuction?
There are several reasons why many women are eager to get thigh liposuction. First, fat thighs tend to make a woman look older than she really is. They also can give off the message that a woman lives an inactive or unhealthy lifestyle. It can be a nightmare to find clothes that fit just right, and having excess fat in the thighs does not make it any easier. Finally, many women are eager to have thigh liposuction performed because they tend to be self conscious about their bodies. Especially during the summertime—the season of shorts, skirts, and bikinis! The thin, athletic thighs that can be achieved through thigh liposuction make a woman appear younger and suggest that she lives a healthy life style.
What Happens During Thigh Liposuction?
You might be wondering what will occur during thigh liposuction. Prior to the surgery, the surgeon will make precise marks on the thighs regarding where fat will be removed. Then, an IV will be inserted in a vein to ensure a balanced fluid level in your body during the surgery. An imbalanced fluid level can lead to severe complications. You may choose to go under a sedative to help you relax. The surgeon will make tiny incisions in the skin and places a thin tube, called the cannula, into the area where fat will be removed. The cannula breaks up the deposits of fat. The surgeon uses the cannula to sculpt the areas of fat in the thighs to the desired proportions. It is very important that you communicate with your surgeon beforehand how you expect the results to look. The fat is removed using a high pressure vacuum. The vacuum leaves the skin, muscles, blood vessels, and nerves intact; it only removes fat. Thigh liposuction is a simple procedure—most patients are able to walk around shortly after the surgery.
