Since 1995, eBay has been auctioning off high quality products and low prices. Making the bulk of their money off of listing fees and other various charges, eBay is able to sell these products at prices just about anyone can afford.

The success and wild popularity of eBay led to many different online auction services, but the best still has to be eBay. That is the place with the best selection of goods for the best prices. Nonetheless, if one is looking to use a different online auction service, there are some different websites listed below highlighting key attributes of each.

uBid.com

uBid is an online auction service that is very similar to that of eBay. It sells a plethora of products at prices that can are affordable to many people. This auction site was created about two years after eBay, most likely in an attempt to cash in on the success of the online auction and to take some profit away from eBay. uBid attempts to make the auctioning process easy by allowing users to have their own page to keep track of everything associated with the site (watched auctions, payment information, etc.). eBay does the exact same thing, so using these two sites can seem like a case of déjà vu. The only difference is that uBid does not charge listing fees for using its site.

Search Engine Auctions

Search engines such as Yahoo and MSN also have auctions for users to look at. Each offers plenty of products for sale and Yahoo has a setup that is very similar to eBay's. It is very cheap to shop at these online auction services and people do not apparently do not attempt to make as much money on shipping.

Basically, there are tons of online auction services trying to compete for your money. Each has its own way of doing so as well. Some offer no listing fees while others offer products for extremely low prices. It would be hard not to find a product that you want at eBay, but if you do not, there are plenty of other auction sites that may have it. The selection at these other online auction services will never be as thorough as eBay, but other attributes keep them in competition. One's best bet will always be to try eBay first, but other auctions such as uBid.com may prove beneficial to other people. It is tough for other websites to compete with a powerhouse such as eBay, but to the buyer that can only mean good things as each online auction attempts to get your interest.
