Benefit Of Organic Food: Why Should I Pay More For Organic Food?
By Rose Hannigan

Nay Sayers of the benefit of organic food point to the lack of hard documented evidence. While it is true that the positives of organic food are still in the air, one cannot argue that debate offered by proponents of organic food offer compelling and convincing arguments. Not only is there a health benefit of organic food, but there is also the environment to think about – traditional methods of farming, eschewing pesticides can cut down on the risk of enriching the soil and the environment with harmful chemicals that may be linked to cancers and other illnesses. Also, there is a taste argument, as well, since organic food does taste truer and fresher than mass-produced food. In the end there are no harms to organic food, so even if the benefit of organic food is still in the air, it's still a safe bet to make.

Allergies, Sicknesses And Cancers: Things That May Be Avoided By Organic Food

A huge benefit of organic food is the decrease in chance of getting sick. It has been suggested that the use of chemicals and pesticides can have detrimental effects on our health, because of the residue that remains after washing of the food. An interesting suggestion, that is supported by studies that show that people are now ingesting more chemicals now than ever before – although, I am not suggesting that the food we are eating is poison, the proponents of the benefit of organic food are suggesting that the long-term effects of a life-time of eating chemically-laced food can be harmful and result in cancers and allergies. It also is argued by opponents of organic farming, that while it's true humans consume chemicals more than before, our bodies have adapted to successfully ingest the small amounts of the residue; while this is probably true, I'm not sure if it's a terribly good thing that people are slowly becoming used to poison, such as pesticide.

Heal The World: The Benefit Of Organic Food Can Be Environmental

The other argument for the benefit of organic farming is that the methods used can reduce environmental problems – pesticide use may have detrimental effects not only on the people, but on the environment, as well. Killing certain plants and animals to maximize production is not natural and farms are tampering with the natural balance and order of animals and plants.

The benefit of organic food is still up in the air – admittedly, the evidence is still isolated and subject to ambiguity; however we do know this, that while we do not know all the true benefits, yet, we do know that even as-yet-proven, the benefits still are great enough to participate in the organic trend.
